Shining Network is the Youth Empowerment and Value Creating Society of Kamala Nehru College. The small community that selects its members on the basis of rounds of group discussions, interviews and skills to work selflessly is an initiative of the young minds of KNC to promote a culture of peace and wellbeing. The society aims to sensitize the youth to various issues and problems that plague the present-day society and to promote human values that are gradually dwindling. The student members of Shining Network look for solutions through interactions and discussions and desire to bring about an ethical awakening so that each one feels concerned for the other and our world becomes a better place to live in. They call the society-Shining Network...A RayVolution. Since its inception in 2007, this enthusiastic team has been working in its unique ways for peace-building and value creation by organizing talks, meetings, seminars, workshops, and interactive sessions as well as conducting field visits. The society has also hosted famous dignitaries like Late Dr. A. P. J. Abul Kalam, His Holiness Dalai Lama, Jean Dreze Shashi Tharoor and Kiran Bedi. The society is focussing on the concept of mindfulness for last couple of years while believing that we cannot have peace in the external environment without inner peace. Anyone with a desire to work for the creating more beautiful minds and explore the opportunities to cultivate and work for peace is welcome to join us. In the year 2018, Shining Network has had its first international collaboration with Society for Philosophers in America (SOPHIA) for initiating the dialogues on Public Philosophy. We believe in ‘You shine the brightest by being the true you’.
