The Department of Psychology is one of the flagship courses of the college, started in 1973. It is dedicated to dealing with not only theoretical knowledge of psychological science but also focuses on its applications in diverse fields. The vision of the department is to: (1) develop a better understanding of human behavior, (2) enhance sensitivity towards social causes and community at large, (3) bridge the gap between theory and its application, (4) encourage inter-disciplinary collaborations with the help of research. The department is well equipped with three spacious laboratories, research room, in-house library, latest psychological tests, instruments and technological facilities. The eminent faculty is dedicated to enable a holistic and multidimensional understanding and application of psychological concepts. The department organizes numerous seminars, workshops, talks, field visits, educational trips, movie/documentary screening, and value-added courses. In particular, L’ESPIRIT, the Psychology Association organizes ‘Psychogenesis’, the annual department day, which sees inter-college participation. ‘Unhinged’, the annual department magazine provides a creative and research oriented platform for the students. The department is proud to have its alumnae contribute to the society at large in the roles of psychologists, counselors, clinicians, special educators, HR professionals, teachers, researchers, and social workers to name a few.
